GERBER LMF II INFANTRY is one of the most well-known and highly regarded fixed knives from Gerber.
The Gerber LMF knife (Lightweight Multi Functional) is an extreme survival-military tool, tested in combat conditions and designed in collaboration with former military man Jeff Freeman.
The LMF II features a solid full tang construction made of 420 HC stainless steel, perfectly suited for this type of build. The drop-point blade is almost 5 mm thick and 125 mm long, allowing the knife to be used for the toughest tasks requiring extreme durability. The LMF II excels in the field not only as a knife but also as a tool for chopping and prying. Part of the blade is serrated, which is particularly useful when cutting fibrous materials such as ropes or straps. The entire blade is coated with a black anti-reflective layer, mainly with soldiers in mind who often use this knife.
The handle of the LMF II knife is made of plexiglass, a material commonly used in the construction of American military helicopters. The non-slip texture of the handle ensures a secure grip, even with wet or gloved hands. Two guards provide additional protection against slipping onto the blade during use. The upper guard also serves as excellent support for the thumb during more precise tasks. The LMF II features an additional tool at the end of the handle in the form of a hammer, which can be used to break glass, drive nails, or deliver a blow in emergency situations.
Holes in the handle and at its end allow the knife to be mounted and used as an improvised spear.
The polymer sheath of the LMF II knife is made in MOLLE standard and equipped with two additional mounting straps, allowing the knife to be carried on gear, on the thigh, or on the arm. The LMF II is secured in the sheath by a press fit and two additional velcro straps.
The knife designers also took care of the important equipment element, the sharpener, which is an integral part of the sheath. The fixed sharpening angle significantly facilitates the already simple sharpening process, requiring only dragging the knife through the sharpener from the base to the tip.
