Before using the device, make sure that it is suitable for the intended use. If in doubt, seek assistance from qualified personnel.

Please note that the manufacturer has no control over possible errors in connecting the device or its use, and cannot assume any responsibility on this account.

Description of the device

The automatic charger allows automated charging of lead-acid batteries with a voltage rating of 2, 6 or 12 volts. When the battery is fully charged, the current is automatically reduced to avoid overcharging. By automatically adjusting the charging voltage and current, the connected battery will be fully charged without the risk of overcharging or over-gassing.

The device is characterized by the following features:

- protection against short-circuits and improper terminal connection

- constant final charging current

- optical display of charging parameters and polarity

- regulation of charging voltage with a slide switch

The device has been tested in accordance with European standard 89/336/EEC (EMVG, 09.11.1992) and complies with the applicable laws. Changing the switch or using non-original parts will violate the conditions of approval.

Description of operation

Unlike simple devices of this type, the charging current in this

automatic charger is not constant and depends on a number of factors, including.

on the state of charge, age, type and capacity of the battery. In addition, the degree of discharge of the battery is important. If the battery has been discharged with a high current, the initial charging current will be large (max. 0.3 A), and after a short period of time it will gradually decrease. In other words, as the voltage increases, the charging current decreases, as shown in the diagram below.

For the effectiveness of the charging process, it does not matter whether the battery is completely or only partially discharged. The battery can remain connected to the charger for a long time, under ambient temperature conditions in the range of 10 - 25 °C. If you mistakenly swap the terminals when connecting the battery, this will be indicated by a red light. You should then immediately disconnect the battery from the charger.

How to use

  1. 1. Select the correct charging voltage (2, 6 or 12 V). Warning: selecting the wrong voltage risks damaging the charger or the battery.
  2. 2. Connect the battery First connect the red terminal of the charger to the positive (+) terminal of the battery, and then connect the black terminal to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
  3. 3. Connect the charger to the 230 V AC mains. After inserting the plug into the 230 V socket, the green "Laden" LED will light up.

Attention!

The device is only protected against short circuits! In any case, short circuits lasting longer (more than 1 minute) should not be allowed, as they can cause an electrical overload of the charger components or electronics.

Important!

The green indicator light "Laden" is lit only when the charging current is flowing!

        • - When connecting the battery for charging, pay attention to the correct polarity!
        • - In order to avoid damage to the battery, do not allow it to be significantly discharged!
        • - Ensure sufficient air supply!
        • - Remove the battery compartment closing plugs before charging!
        • - In case of prolonged charging, check the electrolyte condition!
        • - When checking the density of the electrolyte and during the charging process, do not approach the battery with an open flame or an unprotected light source (risk of explosion of the gas coming out of the battery)!
        • - Observe the battery charging recommendations (usually indicated on the battery case).

Faults

If it is determined that the use of the charger may pose a hazard, stop using it and properly protect it from accidental use.

In particular, this applies to the following situations:

        • - the device has suffered an obvious malfunction
        • - the device has stopped working
        • - device components have become loose
        • - connection wires are damaged

In case of repair, use only original spare parts. The use of non-original parts risks a serious failure of the device. Only suitably qualified personnel may repair the device.
