DANGER
Danger by reverse polarity, short circuit and contact with battery acid - always follow the safety instructions of the lead battery manufacturer.
Caution: battery acid is extremely corrosive. Immediately wash acid stains from skin or clothing with a soap solution and rinse with plenty of water. Flush acid stains in the eye immediately with plenty of water; consult a doctor immediately.
4. PREPARATION
(1) Ensure adequate ventilation in the room during charging.
2. do not open the cell caps on lead-free batteries (lead-acid batteries).
3) Check the acid level before charging lead-free lead batteries.
4.Check the acid level from time to time when you charge maintenance-free lead batteries for a longer charging period.
5. check the charging procedure regularly for safety reasons. Caution Always avoid open flames, strong light and sparks in the vicinity of charged batteries (danger of explosion by gas detonation). Always follow the battery manufacturer's charging instructions.
CONNECTION AND COMMISSIONING
Insert the device's power cord into an intact outlet that also complies with VDE regulations. You must make sure that all of the vehicle's power consumers, such as the ignition, radio, light, telephone, cell phone charger, etc., are turned off if the battery is charged in the built-in state. The lead battery should be disassembled or unlocked if necessary. It is possible that the battery has leakage current or that the battery is still connected to the receiver if the charger does not indicate "completed" (Fertig) or "full" (Voll) after a long charging period.
First connect the red terminal (+) to the positive terminal of the battery, and then connect the black terminal to the negative terminal (-) of the battery.
Caution!
- Never crimp the connections on the vehicle body.
- The charger operates at an ambient temperature of -25 ° C + 45 ° C.
- Always follow the warning instructions for the battery and the vehicle manufacturer before charging.
- During operation at full load, the device can reach temperatures of up to 50 ° C.
6. QUICK INTRODUCTION (FOR EXPERIENCED USERS)
OPERATING THE DEVICE Connecting to the 230 V mains: First connect the charger to the 230 V mains (outlet). The green "Mains" (Netz) light will come on.
Set the battery voltage:
Set the slide switch to 2 V, 6 V and / or 12 V depending on the battery you want to charge.
Connecting to the battery:
Connect the red terminal connecting the battery charger to the positive (+) terminal of the battery and the black terminal to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. The battery can remain connected in the car / motorcycle.
Charging procedure
The device will start the charging procedure automatically. The "Charging" (Laden) LED indicates that.
End
The charger toggles the "Finished" (Fertig) LED and enters refresh mode if all test criteria have been met after charging, and the battery has been rated "Good". The "Charging" (Laden) LED goes out simultaneously and the "Refresh" LED is displayed. The battery is therefore charged and ready for use and can be disconnected from the battery charger.
- Finally, pull the power cord out of the socket. Always pull the plug and never the cable!
- Check the acid level in maintenance-free lead batteries.
- Fill with distilled water if the acid level is too low.
- Follow the battery manufacturer's operating instructions.
7. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARGING PROCEDURE
LED "Mains" (Netz) lights up when connected to the mains (230 V / 50 Hz). The device enters check mode after setting the type of battery with the slide switch and connecting a 2 V, 6 V or 12 V lead acid battery (Acid, gel, AGM, EXIDE gel battery). The "Error" (Fehler) LED and the "Charging" (Laden) LED flash if the voltage of a properly connected battery is higher than 14.3 V (for a 12 V battery) or more than 7.15 V for a 6 V battery or more than 2.4 V for a 2 V battery. The device switches to charging mode if the voltage is within the range of 0.5 ... 2.4 V (2 V battery), 0.5 ... 7.15 V (6 V battery) or 0.5 ... 14.3 V (12 V battery).
Charging technology
The device has three different charging phases:
- I-Phase, the charging current is about 0.6 A for a 12 V battery and about 0.3 A for 2 V and 6 V batteries.
- Phase U1 (= main charging phase) with a constant voltage of 14.3 V (and / or 2.4 V or 7.15 V)
- Phase U2 (live charge) with a constant voltage of 13.8 V (and / or 2.3 V or 6.9 V).
The battery is first charged with a constant current (I-phase) until it reaches the final charge voltage (14.3 V / 7.15 / 2.4 V). The voltage is then held constant (U1-phase), and the charging current adjusts to the battery's state of charge. The fuller the battery, the lower the charging current. During the test, the battery is charged with a certain current. There is a large internal resistance and/or strong sulfation of the battery if the voltage of the charged battery thus drops to the rated voltage.
The battery charger evaluates the battery as "faulty" if the test is not passed; the device then shuts down and the "Error" (Fehler) and "Completed" (Fertig) LEDs flash.
The charger switches the "Finished" (Fertig) LED to LED and enters refresh mode if all test criteria have been met after charging and the battery has been rated "Good." The "Charge" LED goes out simultaneously and the "Refresh" LED is displayed. The battery is therefore charged and ready for use and can be disconnected from the battery charger. The program discharges for 15 minutes at a current of about 30 mA if the battery remains connected to the battery charger. The backup charging procedure starts after 15 minutes or when the battery voltage is lower than the nominal value (suitable for 2, 6, 12 V). The "Refresh" LED will turn off and the "Charging" (Laden) LED will come on. The program now provides "Charging under voltage" for 15 minutes. The charging current is now adjusted so that the battery voltage is automatically maintained at 13.8 / 6.9 / 2.3 V. The "Refresh" program restarts after 15 minutes. This action is repeated periodically until the charger is disconnected from the battery.
Operating Modes:
The device can indicate three different operating modes during operation:
1. the "Charging" LED is lit (Laden). Charging.
2. the "Charging" (Laden) and "Finished" (Fertig) LEDs are lit: Charge.
3. "Refresh" and "Finished" (Fertig) LEDs are lit: Refresh.
Errors:
The device can indicate four different errors:
1. the "Charge" (Laden) and "Error" (Fehler) LEDs flash: The voltage setting (with the slide switch) and the measured battery voltage do not correspond.
2 The "Finished" (Fertig) and "Error" (Fehler) LEDs flash: The battery is recognized as defective.
3. the "Error" (Fehler) LED flashes: the slide switch has an undefined position (intermediate position).
4. the "Error" (Fehler) LED lights up continuously: the charging attempt has failed. Possible cause: defective charger or battery
