Even in extremely low temperatures, ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries have the power to deliver engine-cranking pulses exceeding 2250A for 5 seconds. They even have 400 discharge cycles to 80%. Why such power? The ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries are made of flat plates made of 99.99% pure lead - not lead alloy. Pure lead plates can be thinner, allowing us to fit more in the battery. More ODYSSEY battery plates mean more plate surface area. And that means more power - twice as much as conventional batteries. Like many popular spiral batteries, ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries use AGM (Dry Cell Absorbed Glass Mat) technology to store acid, allowing the battery to be installed even on its side. The densely packed flat plates in the ODYSSEY Extreme Series allow for avoiding "dead space" between cylinders in the "six-pack" design. The result is a 15% larger plate surface area - translating into more power!
